Daniel Raaflaub – Passionate Artist and Vocal Pedagogue

Daniel Raaflaub is a passionate stage performer, vocal coach, and choral stage director and choreographer who captivates audiences around the world with his compelling presence, creativity, and sensitive artistry.

He began his academic journey with a Master’s degree in Geography and Meteorology from the University of Basel, which he completed in 2006. Drawn to the artistic heart of Vienna, he then pursued studies in voice, acting, and dance at the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2009, he graduated with distinction in musical theatre and passed the Austrian stage qualification exam.

Over the past 15 years, Daniel has performed on musical theatre, drama, and concert stages across Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. With standout roles in productions such as RENT, Godspell, Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Chess, he has established himself as a versatile artist. His former involvement in innovative a cappella groups like BHÄMM! reflects his passion for creative musical ventures. He has also enriched his skills through masterclasses in camera acting and voice-over technique and played a key role in developing the new musical HAPPYVILLE.

Daniel’s musical journey began at the boys’ choir school of the Knabenkantorei Basel, where he gained invaluable experience as both a chorister and soloist. Under the guidance of renowned vocal coaches including Michelle Friedmann (Vienna) and Matthias Toggenburger (Winterthur), he refined his voice and honed his artistic expression. In 2022, he completed a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy with a focus on Pop, Rock, and Musical Theatre at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Today, Daniel is a sought-after vocal pedagogue at the Reinach Music School in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. He teaches private students, prepares them for auditions and performances, and is a highly regarded vocal coach for numerous projects and choirs both nationally and internationally. His expertise as a lecturer in song interpretation at SAMTS in Zurich further establishes him as a respected mentor in the field.

Daniel is also active behind the scenes: as a dedicated cultural manager, he served for many years as Office Manager of the European Youth Choir Festival Basel and currently acts as Co-Managing Director of the Knabenkantorei Basel. As a choral stage director and choreographer for children’s and youth choirs in Switzerland (including Knabenkantorei Basel and OYENGA Gospel Choir at the Basel Minster) and abroad (including Vox Aurea in Finland and Kristina Academy Children’s Choir in Kenya), he creates musical experiences that inspire and uplift. His tireless work has earned him several awards at international festivals.
