Daniel Raaflaub ist ein leidenschaftlicher Bühnenkünstler, Gesangspädagoge und Chorregisseur, der die Bühnen der Welt mit seiner beeindruckenden Präsenz, seiner Kreativität und seinem feinfühligen Schaffen erobert.
He began his academic journey with a Master’s degree in Geography and Meteorology from the University of Basel, which he completed in 2006. Drawn to the artistic heart of Vienna, he then pursued studies in voice, acting, and dance at the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2009, he graduated with distinction in musical theatre and passed the Austrian stage qualification exam.
In den letzten 15 Jahren hat Daniel Raaflaub Musical-, Schauspiel- und Konzertbühnen in der Schweiz, Deutschland und Österreich bespielt. Mit bemerkenswerten Rollen in Produktionen wie RENT, Godspell, Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar und Chess hat er sich als vielseitiger Künstler etabliert. Seine ehemalige Mitwirkung in A-cappella-Gruppen, darunter die innovative Formation BHÄMM!, zeigt seine Leidenschaft für kreative musikalische Projekte. Ausserdem besuchte er Masterclasses in «Camera Acting» und «Sprechen» und war an der Entwicklung des neuen Musicals «HAPPYVILLE» massgeblich beteiligt.
Daniel’s musical journey began at the boys’ choir school of the Knabenkantorei Basel, where he gained invaluable experience as both a chorister and soloist. Under the guidance of renowned vocal coaches including Michelle Friedmann (Vienna) and Matthias Toggenburger (Winterthur), he refined his voice and honed his artistic expression. In 2022, he completed a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy with a focus on Pop, Rock, and Musical Theatre at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Today, Daniel is a sought-after vocal pedagogue at the Reinach Music School in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. He teaches private students, prepares them for auditions and performances, and is a highly regarded vocal coach for numerous projects and choirs both nationally and internationally. His expertise as a lecturer in song interpretation at SAMTS in Zurich further establishes him as a respected mentor in the field.
Daniel is also active behind the scenes: as a dedicated cultural manager, he served for many years as Office Manager of the European Youth Choir Festival Basel and currently acts as Co-Managing Director of the Knabenkantorei Basel.
As a choral stage director and choreographer for children’s and youth choirs in Switzerland (including the Basel Boys Choir and the OYENGA Gospel Choir at Basel Minster) as well as internationally (including Vox Aurea in Finland, Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir in California, and Kristina Academy Children’s Choir in Kenya), he creates musical experiences that inspire and captivate. In 2025, he contributed the choreography for the opening show of the European Youth Choir Festival in Basel, featuring 800 singers. In addition, as artistic director of Berlin Loves You, together with Oliver Rudin, he was responsible for designing the closing concert at the Berlin Philharmonie. For his tireless work, he has been honored with awards at various international festivals.
